Weekend Breaks
Terms and Conditions


1. Booking
To make a booking please complete the relevant booking form and return it with the payment required. We are happy to accept provisional bookings by telephone or email, but please confirm with a completed booking form and payment within ten days.

2. Payment
Full payment should be made at time of booking or, if booking more than 2 months before the start of a course, a minimum 50% of the total fee can be accepted as a deposit. Full payment is required when booking less than 2 months before the course start date. Upon receipt of your completed booking form and payment we will send you a confirmation letter (and an invoice showing date on which full payment is due if necessary). A contract will exsist between us from the date we issue the confirmation letter. If you choose to pay a deposit the balance must be paid 2 months prior to the course start date. We fully comply with the Package Travel Regulations 1992 in respect of payments received.

3. Changing your booking
If you need to change your booking please contact us; we will do our best to accommodate any changes.

4. Cancellation
Cancellation by us : In the unlikely event of us having to cancel a course we will offer an alternative course or refund any payments you have made. We will notify you at least 4 weeks before the start of the course. This will not apply in circumstances beyond our control (see section 12 below). It is your responsibility to cancel any other arrangements that you have made e.g. travel and non-inclusive accommodation. We may be obliged to cancel an event if insufficient bookings are taken.
Cancellation by you : if you cancel more than 60 days prior to the start of the course we will refund 80% of your booking fee, 31 -59 days and we will refund 60% of the booking fee. If you cancel less than 31 days before the start of the course we will refund 30% of the course fee. This policy is necessary, as we need to pre-book facilities. Contact us directly if you need to cancel and then confirm in writing.

5. Accuracy of information
We have taken every care to ensure that the details in our current brochure and on this website are accurate. All reasonable effort has been made to ensure that any tours, visits, tutors, guest speakers, accommodation, services, activities or prices will be as described. However for reasons beyond our control we cannot guarantee that itineraries and programmes will be followed as published. You will be notified of any changes as soon as possible.

6. Complaints
If you feel that you have any comments or complaints about your course please inform us during the course and we will try to resolve any problems as soon as possible. If you feel the problem has not been resolved please contact us in writing no later than 28 days after the end of the course.

7. Insurance
Lindum Heritage has limited public liability insurance appropriate for all our activities, however we strongly recommend that you have travel insurance suitable for the nature of the activity in force for the duration of your course.

8. Saturday Evening meal
Where indicated the cost of the Saturday evening meal is included in the course fee for a weekend or midweek break. This meal will be a minimum of a three-course meal possibly from a limited menu at a restaurant of our choice. Drinks are not included. No other meals or drinks are included in your weekend unless specified in the brochure. Tips and gratuities are not included.

9. Special requests or needs
We will do our utmost to respond positively to any special requests or needs, we cannot however guarantee that we will be able to meet any such requests. We take all reasonable steps to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.

10. Fitness
Our courses do involve some walking, including steep hills and steps. Many courses include a guided walk of Lincoln that may last for 2 hours. Some archaeological activities can be strenuous. Bookings are accepted on the understanding that you appreciate the possible risks inherent in such activities. We are happy to advise you if you have any questions or special needs.

11. Luggage
We will do our best to help you with your luggage whenever possible. Please let us know when you make your booking if you may need help.

12. Force majeure
Lindum Heritage cannot be held responsible for any disruption or changes in tour arrangements due to adverse or unusual weather conditions or situations arising from force majeure or industrial action, or failure of provision by third parties. In such circumstances no compensation will be available.

13. Non-participating partners
Non-participating partners are welcome to attend the wine reception and introductory lecture on weekend and midweek breaks. They are also welcome at the evening dinner, but there will be an additional charge to cover the extra meal. Attendance at any other element of the course will require payment of an additional fee.

14. Guest Lecture
Some of our guest lecturers are popular speakers, as a consequence some guest lectures may be open to the public on payment of a fee. Course participants will always be given priority over the general public and will not have to pay any additional fees.

15. Accommodation
Accommodation is included in the fee for our short breaks, but is not included in the fee stated for the summer excavation (except in the case of the complete package offered in week two). Lindum Heritage cannot be held responsible for any problems or omissions arising in connection with an accommodation provider. We are unable to guarantee a particular room or hotel. Accommodation booked by us is on a bed and breakfast basis and will not include any extras.
