The Lost Medieval
Villages of Lincolnshire

This weekend tour will take a close look at the archaeological evidence for deserted medieval villages (DMVs).

Lindum Heritage clients wallk up the main street or hollow way of North Elkington DMV Did plague, pestilence and famine really cause the decline of many of Lincolnshire's medieval villages or was it all down to the activities of grasping landowners? Come to Lincoln and explore the facts. We will discuss the historical reasons for these once thriving settlements to have become abandoned and deserted. Lincolnshire has a wealth of excellent DMV sites set in unspoilt countryside, visiting these sites will form the centre-piece of this weekend.

The course starts with a wine reception on the Friday evening followed by an introductory lecture. On Saturday morning we will set out to tour some of the best DMVs in the county. Back in Lincoln we will assemble in the evening for dinner at one of our favourite restaurants. Sunday morning will be begin with a workshop session looking at DMVs and their archaeological finds, followed by a final talk. The weekend comes to an end at 1.30pm.

The cost of this weekend break is from £225, inclusive of accommodation.
