Family Archaeology Holiday
This four-day holiday is a chance for the whole family to get involved in archaeology. There will be lots of activities for children, lots of activities for grown-ups, and some for the whole family together. The holiday is based in the pretty Lincolnshire village of Nettleham near Lincoln.
The children will be occupied in an exciting a range of doing, making and learning activities. Such as: racing model Viking ships, constructing a medieval waterwheel, pot-washing and recording finds and learning digging techniques, not forgetting a visit from a member of the LEGIO II AUGUSTA .
Meanwhile the adults will be touring the archaeological monuments of Lincoln, visiting the county conservation lab, and enjoying illustrated talks and workshops about archaeology and its techniques. The whole family will also be able to take part in some digging on a real archaeological site.
The holiday is suitable for children aged 7-14 years. The activities will be tailored to the ages of the children on the holiday. The activities will be run by archaeologists who have experience of working with children.
