This weekend is a great chance to look at some of the different types of archaeological finds that can be found during excavation or field walking.
During this unique course we will look at different aspects of archaeological objects and materials through illustrated talks and workshops. All the sessions will be led by practising finds specialists and there will be lots of opportunities to handle artefacts.
We will look at different types of finds including prehistoric flint, pottery from different periods, bone, glass & leather. Pottery will be covered in some detail, as this is generally the most significant group of finds from most excavations. We will also consider how pottery evidence is interpreted and integrated with broader archaeological research.
We will also consider the way archaeologists record finds and review the conservation issues of different types of materials.
The cost of this weekend break is from £225, inclusive of accommodation.
